Sure you can get cameras like that - but in your mouse there is no need for that kind of flexibility. It's just a little cmos sensor not even a ccd AFAIK. You can see the little lens in front of it underneath those mice (unplug it first - the light can be bright).

I don't care if the Razer looks like a mound of doo doo - as long as it performs. I have no brand loyalty - if the new Logitech g5 is a better mouse - I'll try it. But the Diamondback Razer I have now works better than anything else for me. It's not a perfect mouse - the side buttons are practically useless. But it's the high data stream tracking that sells it.

My mouse is wireless. I love it. It does everything a mouse should. I don't care about numbers. Or glowing lights. It's a mouse. It works!

FYI - You'll only really notice the difference with a mouse like the Razer Diamondback or Copperhead with first-person shooters. In a game like GW, for instance, it really doesn't make a difference - glowing lights or not.

OK. My Razer Copperhead mouse arrived yesterday.

It's a little larger than the old Diamondback, which is a good thing. The texture is a matte black which has a better feel than the slick mice. It tracks wonderfully with the FPS games so far.

One nice feature is that it has internal memory. So if you take your mouse to another computer it will still carry your personal settings with it. And it will store 5 profiles. I like it a lot.

If you're a die-hard Logitech fan there's nothing I can say that will change your minds. Even if it were a superconducting telepathic device from the 30th century you'd still cling to your mx-518. That's OK. I'd probably have the same bias against the Logitech G5 if I ever tried one.

I like the way the Copperhead looks, but the appearance is only secondary to me. If it works I don't care how it looks.

Is it worth $80 for a mouse? Depends on how you look at it. I spent almost $4000 on this computer, so what's another $80 for the best gaming mouse I can find? But it only makes a difference with FPS games. You can get by in GW with any mouse, but if you're playing Doom 3, Far Cry, FEAR or Battlefield 2 you'll notice a big difference.

Update:
I've just used the Copperhead mouse for about a month now. It took me a while to realize I had to overclock my USB port to accommodate the 1000Hz polling rate (standard mouse polling is 125Hz) - now it's extremely smooth and precise.

This mouse doesn't do anything for my GW game - it's mainly for FPS games. I'm using it for Quake 4 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 at the moment and makes a difference.

In case you're curious, this link has some pictures that will give you an idea what a high polling rate can do.

I use an MX510, was thinkin of the new Logitech G5 laser or the Razer BUT! I just got the sweetest keyboard on the planet instead and bought some Teflon Mouse Skate Pads for my mouse, WOW! what a diffrence. I recommend the skates for those of u who have a solid mouse yet do not want to update the mouse totally! also make sure you have a good mouse pad like my RatPadzGS!!

Behold my Saitek Eclipse Keyboard!!!!!

Akilles, I thought of getting the Saitek next.
Either that or a Wolf Claw which got good reviews, too.

If you're deciding between the G5 and the Razer ... you might want to consider that the Razer has teflon feet already ... for what it's worth.

I'll stick with my 10 dollar Logitech keyboard and mouse, and sawed-off foam CompUSA mousepad. Highschooler budget FTW!

Kensington Expert Mice on my 3 Desktops, Microsoft Comfort Optical Mice 3000's with built in zoom function and 4 way scrolling on my 4 laptops

probably the only thing microsoft got right.

The nice thing about the Saitek is that the keys are supposed to have a better "feel" for gaming. Have you found that to be true? If so, I might get one - besides, its blue glow will match my Razer Copperhead.

Another nice feature of the Copperhead is that, if I need to, I can click a button on the fly to change the sensitivity. When playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, if I grab a sniper rifle, I can quickly drop the sensitivity to fine tune a headshot then raise sensitivity if I need to run and maneuver quickly.
